Inside the Tulum retreat that promises to send founders home as lions
Ten men a month. Fourteen or thirty days. Fight coaches who have cornered UFC athletes, a private villa, a cenote steps away, and a waiting list you cannot pay your way past. This is Lions Gate.

There is a particular kind of tired that only founders know. It is not the tired of a long day. It is the tired of being the person everyone else leans on: the team, the family, the investors, the customers who never see the 2am version of you. Most people in that position never stop long enough to fix it. Lions Gate Retreats was built for the ones who finally decide to.
The pitch, in the company’s own words, is disarmingly direct: “You don’t need an escape. You need to remember who you are.” What follows is an intense, focused retreat for a handful of exceptional men, fourteen or thirty days in Tulum, supported by a hand-selected team of practitioners, designed to transform how they live and lead.
“As soon as you pass the Lion’s Gates, we send you back a lion.”
Built for the man everyone relies on
Lions Gate is not selling a vacation. It is explicit about who belongs in the room: men who have already built something, who know achievement is not a finish line, and who are ready to raise their standard in business, health, relationships, and life. Its own question to prospective guests lands hard: how much more could you become if you gave your own growth the same commitment you give everyone else?
For two or four weeks, guests train with elite athletes, fighters, and coaches. They strengthen the body, sharpen focus, and confront the habits holding them back. Then, crucially, they build the discipline to carry that level home. As the retreat puts it: break old patterns, build a higher standard, arrive and leave with intention.

Seven disciplines, one standard
The program is far more than fitness. Each discipline is chosen for what it builds in a leader, and the retreat frames each one as an advantage that returns home with you.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Stay composed under pressure
Think clearly when you are cornered, challenged, or out of options.
Boxing + Muay Thai
Act without hesitation
Read the moment, commit to the decision, and remain in control.
Alignment + Strength
Expand your capacity
Remove the physical patterns limiting your energy, focus, and output.
Breathwork + Ceremony
Move through change
Release accumulated pressure and meet uncertainty without gripping it.
Restorative Yoga
Recover completely
Build the ability to stop, reset, and return with a clear mind.
Holistic Massage
Repair the system
Make recovery part of the schedule so intensity remains sustainable.
Performance Nutrition
Fuel the standard
Eat for sustained energy, sharper thinking, and stronger performance.
Days at Lions Gate balance hard training, focused work, recovery, community, and consistent sleep. The goal is not to escape your business. It is to perform at a higher level while rebuilding the habits that support you. Between sessions the time is yours: work, recover, explore. Every Tuesday and Thursday guests step into Tulum’s coworking and AI Club community, surrounded by founders, operators, and technologists. In the retreat’s phrase, you are not stepping away from momentum. You are changing who you build beside.
The logistics are handled so the work can happen. Every guest gets a private luxury villa. Three chef-prepared meals plus snacks are built around training and recovery. Massages come to the villa twice a week. There is airport transport, four curated excursions, a personal quad for getting around, and a fighter kit to take home. An idyllic cenote sits steps from the villa, and the white sand beaches of Sian Ka’an, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are close by.
“Most entrepreneurs build the business. Very few build the man capable of sustaining it.”
The roster
The faculty is the quiet flex. Muay Thai and boxing are led by Matthew Wiseman, who has spent twenty-two years in the sport and twelve coaching professional and amateur fighters, including athletes competing in the UFC, Bellator, and ONE Championship. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu comes from Juan Alfredo, a black belt earned in Brazil under Eduardo Mendez, with fifteen years and hundreds of students behind him. Around them: alignment and Olympic lifting coach Lionel Pedro, Coworking Tulum founder Peiman Fazli running weekly AI workshops, restorative yoga, breathwork and temazcal ceremonies, twice-weekly runs with Run Tulum, and the retreat’s own performance chef.

The founder’s why
The founder is candid about where the idea came from. “Life corrected me more than once,” he writes. “It forced me to confront what ambition had allowed me to ignore. The pressure. The damage. The man beneath the title.” Running companies across countries, industries, and time zones, he concluded, takes more than ambition: a body that can carry the pressure, a mind that can remain clear, and a spirit that cannot be broken.
Lions Gate, in his words, is “the infrastructure I wish I had from the beginning,” and the process that took him years and a great deal of money to assemble, compressed into one villa and fourteen or thirty days.
Three ways in
Guests can come alone, with a partner, or with two friends. The standard stays the same.
One cohort a month, ten men in each. Every place begins with a private conversation: tell them what you have built and why this month matters. If the room is right for you, and you are right for the room, your place is confirmed.
