Fair Isaac, Moderna and Jabil join Robinhood's Trending list, and all three are down 3% to 7% today
What retail investors are buying: 13 names entered Robinhood's Trending list overnight, led by Fair Isaac at a 52-week low after a 26.5% one-day drop and Moderna, still up 35% since Aug. 31 after Citi's downgrade. Robinhood itself joined too.
Thirteen stocks entered Robinhood's Trending list between Tuesday's close and early Wednesday, and the most striking thing about what retail investors are buying today is how many of the newcomers are falling. Fair Isaac, Moderna and Jabil all joined the list, and by midday all three were down between 3% and 7%. Robinhood's own stock also made the list, the morning after the company held its product event.
The full set of arrivals: Robinhood, Snap, Plug Power, SoFi, both Alphabet share classes, Roblox, Verizon, Moderna, Boeing, Capricor Therapeutics, Jabil and Fair Isaac. Seagate, Shopify, DoorDash and Royal Caribbean were among those that left. The "100 most popular" list did not change.
The new names, against the numbers
| Company | Wednesday, 12:11 p.m. ET | Since Aug. 31 close | P/E |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fair Isaac (FICO) | $599.04, -3.1% | -47.8% | 24.3 |
| Moderna (MRNA) | $189.57, -6.8% | +35.1% | negative |
| Jabil (JBL) | $296.60, -7.0% | -2.8% | 39.8 |
| Robinhood (HOOD) | $114.19, -1.7% | +8.9% | 51.6 |
| Alphabet (GOOGL) | $351.86, +3.2% | +3.7% | 17.2 |
| Boeing (BA) | $187.37, -0.2% | -9.8% | 84.0 |
| Snap (SNAP) | $5.56, +4.0% | +0.1% | negative |
| Capricor (CAPR) | $9.74, +13.6% | -2% | negative |
Change since Aug. 31 runs from that day's close to the 12:11 p.m. price on Sept. 30. P/E is trailing, as of Tuesday's session. "Negative" means the company lost money over the trailing twelve months.
Fair Isaac: the cheapest-looking name has the worst chart
Fair Isaac is the case where popularity and the numbers point in opposite directions. The stock closed Monday at $840.89 and Tuesday at $617.87, a 26.5% fall in one session, after Rocket Mortgage said it would make VantageScore its default credit score on conforming and VA loans. We covered the details on Tuesday. Tuesday's volume was 4.91 million shares, about 7.4 times its 30-day average, and the $595.19 intraday low was a new 52-week low. At midday Wednesday the stock was less than 1% above it.
At 24.3 times trailing earnings, Fair Isaac now carries a lower multiple than Robinhood, Jabil or Boeing. But those are last year's earnings, and the open question is how much of them survives. The stock is about 70% below its 52-week high of $1,998.01, set on Oct. 2 last year, and down 47.8% since the end of August.
Moderna: a downgrade after a 223% run
Moderna arrived on the list the morning Citi analyst Geoff Meacham downgraded the stock to its lowest rating, CNBC reported. Citi raised its price estimate to $80 from $60, which is still about 60% below Tuesday's $203.46 close. Meacham wrote that Moderna's roughly $80 billion market value is close to Regeneron's "despite materially lower expected revenue and earnings."
CNBC counted a 223% gain since Aug. 19, when Moderna reported positive late-stage results for its personalized melanoma vaccine given with Merck's Keytruda. On our numbers, Tuesday's close was 9.1 times the 52-week low of $22.28, set last November, and Tuesday's intraday $208.90 was the 52-week high. The company is still unprofitable on a trailing basis. Most of the analysts in LSEG's count still carry positive ratings, CNBC said, so Citi's call is the minority view, not the consensus.
Jabil and Robinhood: the news came from the companies
Jabil reported fiscal fourth-quarter results before the open. Its release on SEC EDGAR shows revenue of $10.6 billion, core earnings of $4.40 a share and a fiscal 2027 outlook of $44.5 billion in revenue and $17.55 in core earnings per share, with management citing AI infrastructure demand. The stock fell 7% anyway. Our earnings story has the balance-sheet detail.
Robinhood announced AI trading agents, crypto perpetual futures and a plan for weekend stock trading at its HOOD Summit on Tuesday evening. CNBC reported the shares were little changed on the news; by midday they were down 1.7%. Our summit story has the leverage and fee math. One House member, Rep. Gilbert Cisneros, disclosed a Robinhood sale in March and a purchase in April, each in the $1,001 to $15,000 range, according to TipRanks. Those disclosures describe the spring, not this week; the full record is on our congressional trades tracker.
What we could not explain
Alphabet was up 3.2% and Snap 4.0% at midday, and we did not find company-specific news behind either move in the day's feeds. Capricor jumped 13.6%; several headlines tied it to new trial data, but we could not read the company's own release this run, so we are not stating a cause.
