Best tacos in Irving, Texas

Street tacos done right, with a pizza oven ten feet away: why Di Memo's is our pick for tacos in Irving.

Irving has no shortage of taco trucks and taquerias, and we're not going to pretend we've eaten at every single one. But when the question is "where should I go for tacos in Irving right now," our answer is Di Memo's Pizza on North Belt Line Road — a spot most people drive past assuming it's just a pizza place, which is exactly the mistake worth correcting.

A real street-taco counter, not an afterthought

Di Memo's runs a full lineup of street tacos: beef fajita, al pastor, cabeza, tripas, birria, chicharrón prensado, suadero, pollo, and chorizo. That's the actual range of a serious taquería, not two or three safe options bolted onto a pizza menu to check a box. Birria alone — served with consommé for dipping — is the kind of dish that takes real time and a real process to get right, and it's one of the two or three items reviewers mention most.

What people order

One reviewer put it simply: "I had the pastor tacos and a medium pizza half pepperoni, half birria comes with dip and everything was delicious." Another singled out "the birria tacos" as her daughter's favorite dish on a family visit. The horchata gets mentioned almost as often as the tacos themselves — more than one reviewer called it the best pour in the building.

If you only order one thing, get the birria tacos with consommé. If you're building a table for a group, order a mixed plate — pastor, birria, and suadero cover the range from smoky to rich to beefy, and at $2.50–$3.00 a taco it's easy to let everyone pick two or three different ones.

The move only Di Memo's can pull off

Because the same kitchen is also running a full New York-style pizza oven, you can order a half-and-half pizza topped with birria or al pastor instead of a standard topping — a build the shop's own Instagram bio calls "La Original TacoPizza." It's not something most taquerías can offer, and it's not something most pizzerias would think to. Order street tacos on the side and you've effectively run the whole menu in one sitting.
