The Nightcap: Nasdaq futures lead a small rise as Applied Materials and Amkor move after the bell
Nasdaq 100 futures are 0.38% above Monday's settlement at 8:51 PM ET, with the Fed deciding Wednesday. Applied Materials is lifting its BESI stake to about 20% and Universal Music has discussed going private.
Futures are quiet and tilted up, with technology doing most of the lifting. After Monday's 0.7% rebound in the S&P 500, nothing tonight has changed the main event: the Federal Reserve's rate decision on Wednesday. The overnight news is mostly chip and deal headlines, and most of it is thin so far.

The headlines moving single stocks
Amkor Technology. The chip packaging company missed on third-quarter earnings and revenue yet rose about 4% in extended trading, Investing.com reported. Seeking Alpha's headline says the company expects fourth-quarter revenue of $1.9 billion to $2.0 billion and is narrowing 2026 capital spending to about $2.5 billion. Traders appear to be reading the outlook, not the miss. We have not read the company's release.
Applied Materials. Reuters and Bloomberg both reported that Applied Materials will raise its stake in the Dutch chip equipment maker BE Semiconductor (BESI) to about 20%, per Bloomberg's headline. Both articles are paywalled for us, so we cannot give the price, the current stake or the terms.
Universal Music Group. Bloomberg News reported that the music company discussed going private with buyout firms, as relayed by Bloomberg and Reuters. A discussion is not an offer, and we have seen no price or confirmation from the company.
Rates, the dollar and bitcoin
