Light steel frame buyer guides
Panelized and prefabricated light steel framing
What panelized, prefabricated and design-for-manufacture-and-assembly mean for steel framing, what changes on site, and what to settle before frames are made.
Prefabrication moves framing labor from the building site to a controlled setting. The trade is that decisions must be made earlier, because a frame cut to the wrong dimension is hard to fix in the field.
Forms of off-site framing
- Loose members: cut and labeled studs and tracks assembled on site.
- Panels: framed wall, floor or roof panels delivered ready to lift.
- Modules: whole room-sized units with finishes, which carry the largest transport implications.
What to settle before fabrication
- Final drawings with openings, door and window sizes, and services routes.
- Connection and fastener schedule, and who supplies fasteners.
- Labeling and packing method, so site crews can find each part.
- Transport limits for panel or module size on your route.
- Lifting method and site access.
Risks
Drawing errors repeat across every panel. Damage in transit and site tolerances at connections are the common problems. Ask how the supplier checks panels before shipping.
Where Digital Oro fits
Digital Oro International's material catalog lists a light steel frame made of AS1397 G550 AZ150 steel, 0.75 or 0.95 mm, with a zinc-aluminum coating of more than 150 g/m2, offered to Australian and American standards. It also lists wall frames, floor joists, roof trusses and sub-floor systems. See the light steel frame catalog map and the full ten-category catalog. The catalog gives no prices, lead times, stock levels or performance ratings for panelized or prefabricated frames. Anything specific to your project has to come from Digital Oro International in writing, and from your engineer of record. Text Digital Oro on WhatsApp to start that conversation.

Questions people ask
What is panelized framing?
Wall, floor or roof sections framed off-site and delivered as assemblies, then erected and connected on site.
Does prefabrication save time?
It can shift work from site to factory, but design freeze, shipping and crane or lifting needs offset some of it. Compare on your project.
What must be fixed before fabrication?
Drawings, openings, services penetrations and connection details, because changes after cutting are costly.
Does Digital Oro list pre-assembled items?
Its catalog describes pre-assembled floor joists and foldable insulated sub-floors. Confirm what your project would receive.
