Bitcoin at $75,815, Ether at $2,240: crypto prices today, November 7, 2026

Bitcoin touched $74,762 on Friday, its lowest since August 21, after a jobs report far above forecasts raised the odds of a December Fed hike. Every alt we track is down 4% to 7% on the week.

Bitcoin traded at about $75,815 on Coinbase early Saturday, flat over 24 hours and down 2.1% over seven days. Ether was at $2,240, up 0.3% on the day and down 0.6% on the week. Friday's low on Coinbase was $74,722, about 1.5% below the current price. The weekend leaves the largest coin sitting near its 50-week average, with the week's candle still to close.

A strong jobs report, a weak tape

The main driver was Friday's payrolls. The U.S. economy added 165,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate slipped to 4.1%, headlines at CNBC, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal all reported. Cointelegraph, citing the Bureau of Labor Statistics, put the consensus forecast at 65,000 and said September was revised up to 60,000 from 29,000. (We could not load the BLS release directly this morning, so the forecast and revision figures rest on Cointelegraph alone.)

For crypto the logic is the one traders have been working with for weeks: stronger hiring gives the Fed room to tighten, and tighter policy drains liquidity from risk assets. Cointelegraph, citing the CME Group's FedWatch tool, reported the probability of a 25 basis point hike in December rose from 66.9% to 76.8% after the data. Stocks bounced on Friday after Thursday's tech sell-off, with the Nasdaq Composite up 1.8% in the first hour, but bitcoin did not follow. That divergence, bitcoin falling while tech recovered, is the notable part of the day.

Where the support is, in numbers

Bitcoin fell to $74,762 in early U.S. trading Friday, its lowest since August 21, according to Cointelegraph. Our Coinbase daily candles show a high of $81,131 on November 3, so the coin is about 6.6% below that peak from four sessions ago. Over twelve months it sits 28.5% below its November 10, 2025 high, per the chart above.

Trader Keith Alan of Material Indicators told Cointelegraph that the 50-week simple moving average, at $77,533, has acted as support since mid-September, and warned that a loss of the $75,500 area could open a drop toward $69,000, adding that the weekly close will tell the story. The price is currently about 2.3% below that average. That is an analyst's view, not a forecast of ours, and a weekly close above or below a line proves little by itself.

Other crypto headlines

  • MEXC cut off from U.S. dollar channels. The Treasury announced on Friday that FinCEN is severing MEXC Global's access to the U.S. financial system under its Operation Economic Outcast campaign. Cointelegraph reported the order cites at least $16 billion in transactions tied to sanctions evasion, cybercrime and other illicit activity, and takes effect 30 days after Federal Register publication. MEXC had not responded to Cointelegraph's request for comment.
  • Binance security questions linger. Cointelegraph reported that the exchange's $6.3 billion hot wallet incident, first described by co-CEO Richard Teng on October 30, still leaves open questions on safeguards. Several exchanges have since published cold storage ratios.
  • Strive reports. The treasury company said it bought 15,124 BTC in October and held 43,124 BTC as of October 30, per its third-quarter report as covered by Cointelegraph. Its shares were down 32% over the past month.

We looked for a specific reason behind the larger weekly losses in XRP and Chainlink (both down about 7%) and did not find one in the coverage we read. The simplest explanation is that alts moved with bitcoin and fell harder, but we cannot confirm a separate cause.
