Bitcoin at $83,829, Ether at $2,695: crypto prices today, September 30, 2026
Every major coin we track slipped or stalled ahead of Wednesday's PCE inflation print, with Chainlink and Avalanche giving back 5%. Bitcoin sits about 2% above the $82,000 floor analysts are watching.

Coinbase Exchange prices at about 8:05 AM ET on September 30. The 24-hour change compares the latest trade with the price 24 hours earlier. The 7-day change compares it with the September 23 daily close (UTC).
The $82,000 line, measured
Bitcoin has been drifting since a failed breakout near $87,300 on September 21, and analysts have settled on one level. "The level to watch is $82k," Jeff Anderson, head of U.S. at trading firm STS Digital, told CoinDesk, adding that a break "will probably yield a slip back into the high 70s." It is the zone where bitcoin topped out in May before sliding to about $57,000 in June.
Here is how close it is on Coinbase's own tape. The 24-hour low was $82,870, about $870 above that line, and the current price is about $1,830, or 2.2%, above it. The high over the same window was $84,557, so bitcoin spent the day in a range of under 2%.
Yields again, and PCE before the open
The pressure is still coming from the bond market. The 30-year Treasury yield closed Tuesday at 5.59% and the 10-year at 5.26%, both up from Monday's 5.56% and 5.24%, according to the Treasury's daily yield curve. The 20-year closed higher still, at 5.64%. CoinDesk, citing CNBC, noted the 30-year crossed 5.6% intraday, its highest since June 2002. The August PCE price index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, is due before the U.S. open.
What has not happened is a leverage flush. Bitcoin futures open interest fell to 625,000 BTC, the lowest since January 1, and market-wide liquidations roughly halved to $196 million, CoinDesk reported, citing CoinGlass. Fewer leveraged positions means less fuel for a forced-selling cascade if $82,000 breaks. Fund buying also held up: U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $66.2 million on Tuesday, a ninth straight day of inflows worth about $3.1 billion in total, while spot Ether ETFs posted about $3 million in outflows, ending a seven-day streak, Cointelegraph reported, citing SoSoValue.
Robinhood moves into perps, and Chainlink and Avalanche
The day's structural news came from Robinhood, which said it is adding crypto perpetual futures for U.S. customers with up to 10x leverage on bitcoin and ether, alongside an AI agent that can place trades on a customer's behalf, CoinDesk reported. Both are still rolling out to eligible customers. Robinhood's own disclosure puts all the risk of trades placed by its AI agents on the customer. The token of perpetuals exchange Lighter fell 17% over 24 hours after the announcement, CoinDesk reported.
We looked for a specific reason behind the 5% drops in Chainlink and Avalanche and did not find one in the CoinDesk and Cointelegraph coverage we read. Both had run hard over the week, Chainlink up 17%, so profit-taking is plausible, but we cannot confirm it.
