Bitcoin at $75,901, Ether at $2,238: crypto prices today, November 8, 2026
Bitcoin is flat on the day and down 3.0% on the week, while every alt we track is down 5% to 7%. Binance's finance chief is leaving a little over a week after its record $6.3 billion hack.
Bitcoin traded at about $75,901 on Coinbase early Sunday, up 0.1% over 24 hours and down 3.0% over seven days. Ether was at $2,238, down 0.2% on the day and 1.5% on the week. Over the past eight daily candles bitcoin has ranged from $74,722 to $81,131, so it is sitting near the bottom of that band. The weekly candle closes tonight (UTC), and weekend liquidity is thin.

Alts fall about twice as hard as bitcoin
The pattern on the table is the same one we showed yesterday: the smaller the coin's market, the bigger the weekly drop. Bitcoin is down 3.0% on the week, while XRP (-6.9%), Cardano (-6.6%), Avalanche (-6.0%), Chainlink (-5.7%) and Dogecoin (-5.6%) are all down more than 5%. Ether, at -1.5%, is the exception. Solana sits in between at -5.2%. Over the same eight-day window, XRP has traded from $1.34 down to $1.1496, and Chainlink from $11.84 to $10.47, both on Coinbase.
We did not find a coin-specific reason for the alt losses in the coverage we read this morning. The simpler explanation is that the market is trading as one risk bucket and the smaller coins carry more beta, but that is our reading, not a sourced cause. For the macro backdrop, our report from Saturday covers the October jobs data and the shift in December Fed rate-hike odds.
Binance loses its finance chief
Cointelegraph, citing Reuters, reported that Binance chief financial officer Kaiser Ng is leaving the company "to pursue a new venture," in a statement from co-CEO Yi He that spoke of "a transition plan implemented over the last half year." Justin Yek, formerly a vice-president of finance at payments firm Airwallex, is reported as his replacement. Ng's LinkedIn profile says he has been Binance's CFO since January 2022.
The timing is what makes it a market story. Cointelegraph noted the news comes a little over a week after the exchange lost a record $6.3 billion in a hack on October 29, which the FBI and several researchers have attributed to North Korean hackers (North Korea has denied it). Binance said it would absorb the losses rather than pass them on to customers. The company's statement describes a planned departure, and we have no evidence linking the two events.
Separately, CoinDesk and Cointelegraph both ran headlines on Saturday and Sunday saying Binance customers in some European countries, including France, have been told by email that accounts will close on December 31, with fees on assets left on the exchange starting November 29. We have read only the headlines and summaries, as both articles were not fully loadable this morning, so treat the details as reported, not confirmed by Binance.
